Summary
A pending transaction has been initiated but has not fully settled yet. Use this guide to understand why a transaction may be pending, when to wait, and when to escalate.
What pending means
A pending transaction is a transaction that has been initiated but has not fully settled yet. In Reah, this usually means the transaction is still being processed by a bank rail, payment provider, card network, or blockchain network. A pending status does not automatically mean the transaction will fail.
Why a transaction may be pending
A transaction may stay pending because of:
- bank processing windows
- ACH or wire settlement timing
- card authorizations that have not fully posted
- blockchain confirmation time
- internal review, approval, or routing checks
Settlement time depends on the transaction type, the rail involved, processing hours, and any external systems involved.
What happens after pending
Once processing is complete, a pending transaction will move to a final status. That final status may be:
- completed
- settled
- failed
- canceled
If the transaction completes successfully, your records and balances will update accordingly.
When to wait
It usually makes sense to wait if:
- the transaction was submitted recently
- the rail normally takes longer to settle
- the transaction was initiated outside normal banking hours
- the external provider or network is still processing it
When to investigate
It makes sense to investigate if:
- the transaction has stayed pending longer than expected for that workflow
- the funds should already have settled
- the status has not changed after a reasonable processing window
- you see signs the transaction may not complete successfully
What to check first
Before escalating, review:
- transaction type
- time submitted
- current status
- amount and asset
- source and destination account or wallet
- whether approvals were required
If a transaction stays pending
If a transaction remains pending longer than expected, gather the key details and contact Reah support. Useful details include:
- transaction ID or reference
- amount and asset
- date and time submitted
- source and destination details
- screenshots or notes that may help explain the issue
What to do next
- Check transaction status
- Troubleshoot failed transactions
- View transaction history
- Export transaction records
