Backup Owner’s Recovery Kit

Last updated 6 days ago

Your Recovery Kit is the backup key for your Entity.

You do not need to use it day to day. But if you ever lose access to your login email, your Recovery Kit can help you recover ownership of your Entity.

It can also be used for Emergency Exit, a last-resort way to export your wallet private keys if Reah becomes unavailable.

What you need to do now

If you are an Entity Owner, please back up your Recovery Kit from:

Settings → Security → Recovery Kit

Once backed up, store it somewhere safe.

You do not need to use it unless:

  • You lose access to your login email.
  • You need to recover ownership of your Entity.
  • You need to use Emergency Exit.

What is a Recovery Kit?

A Recovery Kit is a private recovery key generated for you.

It looks like this:

reah_rk_AgAAAH...

Think of it like a backup key for your Entity.

Your Recovery Kit helps prove that you are the rightful Owner if normal email login is no longer available.

A few important things to know:

  • It is generated in your browser.
  • The private recovery key is not uploaded to Reah.
  • Reah cannot recover it for you if you lose it.
  • Reah support will never ask you to share it.
  • Each Entity has its own Recovery Kit.

If you own multiple Entities, you need to back up a separate Recovery Kit for each Entity.

When will I need it?

You may need your Recovery Kit if:

  • You lose access to your registered email.
  • Your company email is deactivated.
  • Your company changes domain or email provider.
  • You leave a company but still need to transfer ownership properly.
  • Reah is unavailable and you need to use Emergency Exit.

In normal use, you will keep signing in with your email. The Recovery Kit is only for recovery situations.

How to back up your Recovery Kit

Only Entity Owners can back up a Recovery Kit.

  1. Go to Settings → User Security.
  2. Find the Recovery Kit section.
  3. Click Back up Recovery Kit.
  4. Reah will generate a reah_rk_... recovery string in your browser.
  5. Copy the full string and store it somewhere safe.
  6. Confirm that you have saved it securely.
  7. Complete the confirmation step.
  8. Once done, the Security page will show that your Recovery Kit has been backed up.

If you have backed up a Recovery Kit before, you may see Regenerate and back up instead.

How to store it safely

Treat your Recovery Kit like a wallet seed phrase or private key.

Recommended:

  • Store it in a trusted password manager.
  • Print it and keep it in a secure place.
  • Save an encrypted offline copy.
  • Keep backup copies in separate secure locations.

Avoid:

  • Do not store it in plain text in chat apps, email, notes, or cloud documents.
  • Do not keep it only as a screenshot.
  • Do not share it with teammates, Reah support, or anyone else.
  • Do not paste it into websites or tools you do not trust.

Anyone with access to your Recovery Kit may be able to access sensitive recovery flows for your Entity.

How account recovery works

If you lose access to your login email, you can use your Recovery Kit to recover ownership.

  1. Go to the Reah sign-in or recovery page.
  2. Choose “Lost your Email” to Recover with Recovery Kit.
  3. Paste your saved reah_rk_... Recovery Kit.
  4. Reah will verify that the Recovery Kit is valid.
  5. You will enter a restricted Account Recovery Mode.
  6. In Account Recovery Mode, you can transfer Entity ownership to a new email address.
  7. The new Owner verifies their email and accepts ownership.
  8. Once recovery is complete, the previous Owner is removed.

Account Recovery Mode is limited to ownership recovery. It cannot be used for normal payments, transfers, card actions, or treasury activity.

When should I regenerate my Recovery Kit?

You should regenerate and back up a new Recovery Kit if:

  • You lost your old Recovery Kit but can still sign in.
  • You think someone else may have seen or copied it.
  • Your Entity ownership setup changed.
  • Reah shows that your Recovery Kit is outdated.

For example, if your Entity changes from one Owner to multiple Owners, or from multiple Owners back to one Owner, Reah may ask you to regenerate your Recovery Kit.

This keeps your recovery setup aligned with your current ownership structure.
