Assign the Cardholder role and manage permissions
Last updated About 13 hours ago
Summary
Use this guide to assign the Cardholder role to a team member, understand its default access, and manage Cardholder permissions in Reah.
How the Cardholder role works
The Cardholder role gives team members access to their own assigned card and spending activity without providing access to the broader finance workspace.
By default, Cardholders can:
- View their own card and spending activity
- Submit receipts and memos related to their card activity
By default, Cardholders do not have access to:
- Entity balances and the rest of your Reah workspace
- Other users’ cards
- Other users’ transactions
Before you start
You need Owner or Admin access to assign the Cardholder role or update its permissions. The teammate must already be a member of the entity.
Assign the Cardholder role
- Go to Settings → Roles.
- Select Cardholder.

- Click Add Members.

- Select the team member you want to assign to the role.
Once assigned, the team member will have access based on the configured Cardholder permissions.
Assigning the Cardholder role does not issue a card. To issue the team member a card, create a corporate card separately and select them as the cardholder.
Manage Cardholder permissions
Owners and Admins can update Cardholder permissions from Settings → Roles → Cardholder. Review the available permissions and enable only the access Cardholders need.
Depending on your Approval Flow, permission changes may require approval.

What to check after assigning the role
- The correct team member is assigned to the Cardholder role
- Their access matches their responsibilities
- A corporate card has been created and assigned if they need to make purchases
