Troubleshooting Failed Transactions

Identify and resolve common transaction hurdles to maintain a seamless financial flow.

Last updated 9 days ago

Overview:

While Reah is designed for high reliability, blockchain transactions can occasionally fail due to network conditions, insufficient gas, or governance constraints. Understanding these failure points allows your team to resolve issues independently and maintain operational speed.

This guide covers:

  • Identifying the Failure: How to use the Reah dashboard and block explorers to diagnose an issue.

  • Common Failure Points: Resolving gas limits, insufficient balances, and network congestion.

  • Governance Deadlocks: Addressing stalled transactions in your Approval Flows.

  • Recovery Steps: Clear actions to take when a transaction does not execute.

Identifying the Failure

If a transaction does not complete, it will be marked as Failed in your transaction history.

  1. Check Dashboard Status: Navigate to the Transactions tab to see if a reason is provided (e.g., "Out of Gas").

  2. View in Explorer: Click the "View on Explorer" link (such as Etherscan or Solscan) to see the exact error message recorded on-chain.

  3. Check for "Reverted": If a transaction is marked as Failed, the assets have not left your wallet, but the gas fee may still be deducted due to the computational work performed.

Common Failure Points & Solutions

Most transaction failures stem from three primary areas:

1. Insufficient Gas ("Out of Gas")

This occurs when the gas limit provided is too low for the complexity of the transaction.

  • The Solution: Re-initiate the transaction and ensure you have a sufficient balance in your Gas Station or enough native tokens in your source wallet to cover the network fee.

2. Insufficient Asset Balance

The transaction may fail if the wallet does not have enough of the asset you are trying to send at the time of execution.

  • The Solution: Top up the source wallet or ensure that any pending inbound transfers have reached at least 1 confirmation before attempting to send those funds out.

3. Network Congestion

During periods of high traffic, "cheap" transactions with low gas prices may be ignored by the network.

  • The Solution: If the transaction is Pending for an extended period, you may need to use your Gas Station to "speed up" the transaction or wait for network traffic to subside.

Governance & Approval Deadlocks

Under Enterprise Governance, a transaction may not execute immediately if it is still awaiting internal authorization or hasn't met the specific threshold required by your entity's policy."

  • Pending Approvals: Check the Approvals tab to ensure all required team members have signed off.
